“Connections to humans, to the earth, to the world around us provide the fuel and passion to create meaningful artwork and to explore the world of human emotion.

I explore different mediums and techniques allowing a rich tapestry of color and spirit to prevail in my art and writing.” – Annie Allen

Makers Space…

Annie Allen- Makers Space, Montana

It begins here, in this small welcoming studio!

Trace and I are considering developing what is commonly referred to as a makers space. Here are some details on this idea: With the current situation in our world, the lack of funding for schools, art and mental health the idea began to percolate around our blessing of property that has given us such joy. This studio has held so many students and art events. This wee building would become a gallery and hopefully a new building, beside this one, would become a space for all with a forest floor to walk and enjoy. We are saving with all of our might. And where there is a will there will be a way. It will be simple, organic and self-sustaining. If you have some thoughts on this idea, want to work on it with us (as it unfolds) or want to invest in the future of the idea just reach out. (read more…)

I spill watercolor and batik dyes on various surfaces, such as watercolor paper, muslin cloth, yupo (polypropylene) paper, mineral paper and canvas. This is followed by applications of acrylics which alter the state of the watercolor and dyes.

Process Video

Born in Laredo, Montana, on a small working farm/ranch, led to the benefit of understanding the rhythms of the earth. Understanding that humans suffer and rejoice from the energy of the land. Vital energy existing in land, animals, water, and minerals connects our hearts to nature. Humans need connection. They need language and they need the arts to express this language when there are no words.

Annie shares this tale through art:
“Rocks become animals and tree roots become magical beings, birds release energized lines of movement through the air. Magic exists in nature, for all, through art.” – Annie
